Plein Air Oil Painting Classes - Materials List

Canvas
- It is recommended that students purchase one to three canvases. Choose cotton canvas (less expensive) or linen canvas (higher quality) in the size you prefer. Suggested canvas size 14 x 17 inches or 18 x 24 inches. Note: If students plan on working on the same subject during each class they may purchase one canvas instead of three.
- Paint palette with hole for thumb.
Oil Paints and Brushes
- Oil paints and brushes used during your classes are provided by the art studio of John Varriano Inc. Note: If students have their own oil paints and brushes they would like to use, they are welcome to bring them to class.
Portable Folding Easel
- Many folding easels come equipped with storage for paints and brushes. If you purchase a portable easel that does not have this feature it is recommended that you use a knapsack for your paint supplies.
Folding Camp Bench (optional)
- Can be purchased at camping goods store or online.
